NDIS News

NDIS Engage

NDIS Engage is a new website created by the NDIA where participants, families and the community can help shape the future of the NDIS.

Through the platform, you can share your ideas and feedback by taking part in surveys, workshops and co-design projects. These opportunities allow participants to have a real say in how the NDIS continues to evolve.

You can also register as a member to receive a fortnightly newsletter with updates about new engagement opportunities. Some projects may even offer paid opportunities for participants to share their feedback.

Help shape the future of the NDIS:

Auslan Emergency Interpreting (AEI) App

Expression Australia has launched a world-first Auslan Emergency Interpreting (AEI) App, giving Deaf and hard-of-hearing people direct access to Triple Zero (000) in Auslan.

For the first time since Triple Zero was introduced in 1961, Deaf and hard-of-hearing Australians can connect with emergency services in real time using Auslan, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in Australia.

Good News
Paralympians Inspiring the Next Generation

Students across NSW are learning about disability and inclusion through the Paralympics Australia Imagine Education Program.

The initiative has already been rolled out in more than 120 schools across NSW, bringing Paralympic athletes into classrooms to share their personal stories, challenge stereotypes and inspire students to think differently about disability.

It’s a great reminder of the power of representation, education and positive role models in building a more inclusive future.

Able Plus and IDO Expo

Last month was a busy one for the team out in the community.

David attended two Able Plus events in Queensland — Logan and the Gold Coast, while Georgia, Sarah and Gerard were busy exhibiting at the Illawarra Disability Options (IDO) Expo in Wollongong.

It was wonderful meeting so many people — from familiar faces to brand new connections. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. We always enjoy sharing what we do at Pacific Plan Management and hearing about the great work happening across the sector.

Caffeine Connections – Wollongong

Kobie had the pleasure of attending last months Wollongong Caffeine Connections event at Georgia Rose in Shell Cove.

It was great to connect with providers and fellow organisations, and to be part of conversations around inclusion, support and the NDIS within our community.

Staff Mental Health Day

Last week the Pacific Plan Management team took the morning to focus on something just as important as work — our mental health.
We started the day in beautiful Kiama with some breathwork, followed by a team meeting in the sunshine and a great lunch together at the Kiama Pub.

A great reminder that taking time to reset, laugh together and step away from the desks every now and then is important for everyone.

Kiama Lions Cottage
Kiama Lions Cottage is a special retreat designed to provide respite accommodation for carers — the dedicated people in the community who spend so much time caring for others. Created by the Lions Clubs of Kiama, Gerringong and Minnamurra, the cottage was transformed from a long-vacant council house into a relaxing space where carers can take a well-deserved break and recharge.

Located close to Kiama’s main street, Surf Beach and the Bowling Club, it offers a peaceful stay within easy walking distance to cafes, shops and parks. The project was made possible entirely through local funding, donations and volunteer labour — a remarkable achievement for the Lions community.
