Amanda Rishworth Appointed as New NDIS Minister

In a recent cabinet reshuffle, Amanda Rishworth has been appointed as the new Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

With her extensive experience in social services, Amanda Rishworth is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of the NDIS, ensuring better outcomes for participants.

Changes to NDIS ā€“ New Management of Funding Rules
In December 2024, the government introduced new Management of Funding Rules under the NDIS Act, allowing the NDIA to restrict self-management to participants if there is a risk of misuse.

Recently, the Department of Social Services released a plain English summary of an amendment clarifying how these decisions are made.
The amendment outlines factors the NDIA must consider when assessing risks and approving Plan Management. However, these changes are still under negotiation with states and territories.
